International Paper will close its packaging facility in Barrington, New Jersey. As a result, 126 employees are expected to lose their jobs later this year.

The Camden County plant converts containerboard into corrugated boxes. According to the company, operations are scheduled to end in late August.

Employee layoffs are expected to begin on Sept. 24. The company disclosed the workforce reduction through a notice filed with the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

International Paper said the decision followed a strategic review of the Barrington facility and its broader regional operations. Consequently, the company determined the plant no longer aligned with its long-term operating strategy.

The restructuring is intended to improve efficiency while supporting future customer demand. However, the closure marks another manufacturing loss for South Jersey.

Headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee, International Paper operates an extensive manufacturing network across North America. Today, the company employs more than 62,000 people and manages approximately 190 packaging mills, converting facilities, and recycling operations.
